ARGENTINA
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION: With a surface of 3.800.00 Km2 of continental territory and a population of 37 million inhabitants, Argentina is the end of South American continent. The main entrances are: Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Bariloche, Córdoba, Ushuaia and Iguazú.
CLIMATE: Due to its great extension and location Argentina, has a great diversity of climates, from the subtropical until antarctic colds, from warm to the steppes desérticas. Its capital, the City ofBuenos Aires, has a continental moderate weather. In Iguazú and adjacent areas the climate is humid subtropical, while in the Northwest has a semi-arid climate with strong winds. In the Patagonia the weather is cold during most of the year.
CURRENCY: The official currency is the Peso. There are notes of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 pesos. Coins of 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents and of 1peso. The exchange rate is free, Credit cards and Traveler checks are habitually accepted.
ELECTRICITY: 220 volts.
BUSINESS, RESTAURANTS AND BANKS: The banks open up from 10.00 to 15.00 hs. Monday to Friday. The offices open up from 09.00 to 19.00 hs. from Monday to Friday and on Saturdays until 13.00 hs. The shops are open from Mon to Fri of 09.30 to 19.30 hs. and on Sat. from10.00 to 15.00 hs. being that some remain open with the same schedules that during weekdays. The restaurants are open until high hours of the night. Numerous bars, coffees and pubs are open 24 hs.
GASTRONOMY: The Argentinean meats have world prestige. The strong influence of immigrants from different countries, mainly Italian and Spanish, they are also present in the gastronomy with typical plates. The excellent international kitchen shines in anyone of the important cities of Argentina with wide variety and can compete with the best around the world. The Argentinean wines are recognized worldwide by its excellent quality. Among its varieties are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Pinot Noire, Chablis and Chardonnay, the champagnes are made of high quality. TIPS: These are not included in any invoice or voucher of position payment for consumption that the passenger could neither receive in the payments with credit cards, surrender to will according to the satisfaction of the service being in any gastronomic establishment of 10% of the total value of the bill. It is use and habit the delivery of tips to waiters, baggage loaders, doormen of hotels, guides, etc.
